Albert Einstein did not say the exact quote shown in the image. However, the quote captures a sentiment very close to one Einstein did express in a 1953 letter (written in German) about Spanish cellist Pablo Casals, preserved in the Albert Einstein Archives at Hebrew University of Jerusalem. In it, Einstein wrote: “Er hat klar erkannt, dass die Welt mehr bedroht ist durch die, welche das Uebel dulden oder ihm Vorschub leisten, als durch die Uebeltäter selbst.” This translates to: “He has clearly recognized that the world is more threatened by those who tolerate evil or support it than by the evildoers themselves

“ALBERT EINSTEIN recognizing him as a great artist and a principled man for his steadfast stance against oppression. Einstein’s admiration for Casals highlights a shared belief in using one’s talents and voice to promote peace and combat injustice, with Einstein writing a tribute to Casals in 1953 that praised his unwavering opposition to “those who tolerate or encourage evil”.
